not every bad thing that happens to good people (or even bad people) is because god’s mad at them. or their ancestors. or their ancestors ancestors.

during an interview on the Christian Broadcasting Network the day after the earthquake in haiti, televangelist robinson said “many years ago, the island’s people ‘swore a pact to the devil.’ true story. and so the devil said, ‘OK, it’s a deal.’ they kicked the french out. the haitians revolted and got themselves free. ever since, they have been cursed by one thing after the other.”

and you know what the truly sad part is? people believe this shit! there are hundreds of thousands of people on this earth right now that actually think that the haitian people somehow deserve this deserve because of some bogus “deal with the devil” made hundreds of years ago. including my mom. which makes me sick.

someone want to tell them they only got what was coming to them?

i’m sure she’d really appreciate a lesson in christian charity, judge not lest ye be judged, and heal the sick? oh, they forgot, did they – matthew 10:8 “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. Freely you received, freely give.”
