the film has grossed millions – m-i-l-l-i-o-n-s!! doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a great film. but at least it’s popular. so the way i see it, if we’re gonna go sit through 2 hours and 42 minutes of what it supposed to be a “technological wonder” of a film, we may as well go all out.
so we did.
boyfriend and i went out to tomball (or as i pronounce it, “tom – bawllll”) and paid though the nose to see it in imax 3d. and i have to say… wow.
it was actually pretty freakin’ cool. i was surprised! i thought, you know, it’s another one of those sci-fi space action movies like starship troopers from back in the nineties. but apparently that’s exactly why it took james cameron twelve years to get this one right. because avatar was really so, soooo much better than starship troopers. no comparison at all, really. none.
so okay. go see it. it’s even got enough of a romance/family drama/comedy input to almost make it a chick flick. you’ll see.
