perfect pun'kin pie

it takes a bit of patience, but my beautiful pumpkin pie had the most adorable maple leaves around it this year. the autumny glisten? achieved with some cinnamon-sugar mix and a bit of egg white. the golden crust? cut the edge off an empty pie pan and invert it over the top of the pie as it bakes. the tantelizing flavor of the pumpkin? never, ever, use pumpkin pie spice. always mix your cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and ginger yourself.
